Court and Livery Luncheon
The Master cordially invites all Tylers and Bricklayers to attend a Court & Livery Luncheon at Brewers’ Hall, Aldermanbury Square, London EC2V 7HR, at which we will be entertaining the Masters and Clerks of some of our associated Livery Companies.
We have already received acceptances from the Masters of the Masons, Joiners & Ceilers, Plaisterers, Glaziers, Paviors and Framework Knitters Companies. We will also welcome a new Freemen and a new Liveryman who is being clothed in the Livery at the Court meeting earlier in the day.
The Brewers’ were one of the first Guilds to have a Hall of their own.The earliest reference to their Hall, which stood on the same site as the present Hall, occurs in the records of the Chapter of St Paul’s Cathedral in 1422. The Hall was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. A
second Hall was built on the same site between 1670 and 1673; the costs partly met by pawning the Company’s plateand other treasures; which were never redeemed. This Hall was destroyed by enemy bombing in 1940. The present Hall was designed by Sir Hubert Worthington and completed in 1960.
This luncheon is priced at £87.50 per person – Partners and Guests are most welcome and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The dress code will be Lounge Suit with Tie; Livery Badges should be worn. Carriages should be booked for 3.00pm.
