Definition:

A process used to increase the strength of Gauged Arches. When the voussoirs have been cut, and rubbed, to their final wedge shape a long tapered channel is cut into the beds of each brick. When the setting of the arch has been completed these channels, or joggles, are filled with a neat cement grout.
