Ian Wilson wins the Paul Harris Trophy

24 members and guests played in the Annual Tylers and Bricklayers Golf Day held this year for the first time at Moor Park Golf Club near Rickmansworth on a fine early autumn day.  We were delighted to be joined this year by teams from the WC of Plumbers, the WC of Solicitors, and a combined team from the WC of Firefighters and World Traders.

Moor Park boasts what must surely be one of the grandest clubhouses of any golf club in the UK.  Moor Park mansion is a Grade 1 listed Palladian building, originally built in the late 17th century for the Third Earl of Bedford, set within over 300 acres of landscaped Hertfordshire parkland. The mansion became a golf club in 1923.

We played on the West Course which was in good condition despite the lack of rain over the summer months.  It is fair to say that most of us found the greens fast and difficult to read which might account for some low scores! The Paul Harris Trophy for the best score by a member of the Company was won for the second year in a row by Ian Wilson, with Mike Walsh in second place.

The prize for the best team score was won by Ian Wilson, Malcolm Day and Ray Bullock (a guest).  The Three Clerks Trophy, awarded for the best score by a Livery team, was won by a team from the WC of Plumbers, who repeated their victory of 12 months ago at Burnham Beeches Golf Club.  We were delighted to welcome the Master who kindly presented the prizes.

The Tylers and Bricklayers Golf Society welcomes golfers of any ability.  We play in five or six Livery golf days each year, as well as hosting our own annual golf day for members and guests.  If you would like to join us for the 2026 season, please contact Charlotte Pienaar or Simon Martin, respectively Captain and Secretary of the Society.
